BSAC denounces disappearance of BSO Pajjar leader as an attack on education

The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has expressed deep concern over the recent disappearance of BSO Pajjar leader Babul Malik Baloch from a hostel in Quetta. The committee described this incident as part of a broader “anti-education” climate prevailing in Balochistan, which they believe is aimed at suppressing student activism and academic pursuits in the region. The statement highlighted the growing anxiety among students and their families amid increasing restrictions and threats.

In their official statement, the central spokesperson for BSAC emphasized that the situation across Balochistan is becoming increasingly alarming. They pointed out that the education system is effectively “paralyzed” due to ongoing enforced disappearances and harassment targeting students associated with various organizations. The committee warned that such actions are creating an environment of fear and uncertainty within educational institutions.

The disappearance of Babul Malik Baloch was reported after he was reportedly taken from the Polytechnic College hostel late Tuesday night. His current whereabouts remain unknown, and there has been widespread condemnation of this enforced disappearance. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of politically active students and the growing crackdown on student organizations in the region.

BSAC highlighted that the targeting of student leaders and activists inside educational institutions is undermining the very foundation of student movements. This climate of intimidation is forcing parents to reconsider sending their children to schools and colleges, fearing for their safety. The committee stressed that such measures are hindering the progress of education and literacy efforts in Balochistan.

In conclusion, BSAC condemned the enforced disappearance of Babul Malik Baloch and called on authorities to review their policies immediately. The committee demanded his swift release and urged the government to create a safe and conducive environment for Baloch students to pursue their education peacefully. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue advocating for educational rights and the safety of students in the region.
