Balochistan: BRG and UBA Claim Attacks in Naseerabad and Kachhi
Pro-independence Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibility for separate attacks in the districts of Naseerabad and Kachhi within Balochistan, according to statements released to the media. These claims highlight ongoing tensions and insurgent activities in the region, with groups asserting they are targeting interests linked to the Pakistani state.
Dostain Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), announced that his group targeted machinery believed to belong to Pakistani security forces in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad. He explained that explosives had been planted on the equipment near Rabi, leading to its destruction. The operation was presented as part of the group’s broader campaign against what they perceive as military-linked economic activities.
The BRG spokesperson further accused the targeted machinery of being involved in military-associated commercial ventures related to agricultural resources in Balochistan. He warned that similar projects would continue to be targeted and issued a warning to individuals connected with these activities to stay away from them, emphasizing the group’s intent to disrupt perceived state-controlled economic interests.
In a separate development, the United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for an armed attack in the Sanni area of Kachhi district on 4 April. Mazar Baloch, spokesperson for the UBA, stated that fighters from his group engaged in a firefight with individuals he described as members of a state-backed armed group. This incident was part of ongoing clashes between different armed factions operating in the region.
According to the UBA statement, two men—Aziz Jatoi and Nawab Jatoi, son of Muhammad Ashraf Jatoi—were killed during the exchange of fire. The group also seized weapons belonging to those involved. UBA accused these individuals of having longstanding ties to Pakistani intelligence-linked armed groups and of providing information on Baloch fighters, as well as participating in the detention of local residents.
The UBA spokesperson further warned others working with state institutions to cease their activities, warning that continued cooperation with such groups would lead to further confrontations. As of now, there has been no immediate response from Pakistani authorities regarding these incidents, leaving the situation tense and unresolved in the region.
